Our Learning Approach

Nova Pioneer uses the Cambridge curriculum and delivers it through an enquiry-based learning model. With the guidance of a teacher, we give our students the opportunity to discover, develop and test their theories. This learning approach leads  to a richer understanding of concepts and ensures our students feel empowered and prepared to lead.

Our Boksburg Campus

In November 2018, Nova Pioneer acquired a Boksburg based pre-school, Stepping Stones, which is currently undergoing the process of gradual transition to Nova Pioneer. The school currently accepts children ranging from 3 months to 3 years into the Baby and Tots Center – the youngest Novaneers to date – and is open for applications for Pre-Primary and Primary, grade 000 to grade 4.

The Nova Pioneer group offers world-class education and currently has six excellent schools across Gauteng. The Nova Pioneer approach to teaching and learning is not what you would find at other Cambridge schools. Classes are hands-on and interactive, and classrooms are student-centered, which means that the teacher guides the student to discover solutions themselves, rather than simply telling a student how to solve the problem.

Co- and Extracurricular Activities

The Boksburg campus offers both co- and extra-curricular activities. All activities are changed termly, based on the seasons and teacher availability. Some clubs are limited to specific Grades only. For a full list, please enquire directly with the school or with the campus admissions associate.

Aftercare is an additional cost for Grades 1 (and above) which is not included in the total fee. Should parents wish to use the in-house aftercare service, the monthly cost is R880. Grades below Grade 1 for 2019 has aftercare included in their total fee cost. Aftercare is held until 17h15.

The school provides meals to all pre-primary students up until Grade R. Primary school students are encouraged to become more independent and bring their own meals and lunch boxes.

Nova Pioneer works closely with Care Junction to offer support to students and remedial needs in Pre-Primary and Primary School. We also have a child therapist on site once a week and onsite occupational therapist. Read more

We decided on Nova Pioneer because we loved the concept of the enquiry-based learning as well as how the school is so committed to nurturing children into becoming young adults who think rigorously about the future of the world. My daughter has grown by leaps and bounds during her tenure at Nova Pioneer. She is very innovative and has become a go-getter which makes me so proud. Nova Pioneer is a great school.

Joco Solomons, Nova Pioneer Parent

I think the the community meetings the children have are fantastic. We as a family believe firmly that community awareness and community responsibility is one of the core fundamentals in society. Without a strong community, society in itself will fold. Therefore, the fact that Nova Pioneer encourages our children to be responsible and caring and giving, is probably the MOST noteworthy experience.

Grant Son, Nova Pioneer Parent

The small classroom sizes was what initially drew us to Nova Pioneer. The idea of our child receiving individual attention was an attractive offering. We have enjoyed the Friday Exploration day feedback sessions where parents get to interact with the students and get an understanding of what they do during the sessions and what they have learned throughout the term. The Nova Pioneer learning approached has had a positive influence on my child's curiosity, always questioning and trying to understand life skills.
